The tourism industry & why it needs 3D Virtual Tours.

The first time you go to New York City and walk into Time Square you get this sense of familiarity that is hard to understand because you are experiencing it for the first time - or are you?

Our emotional attachment to things, people & places comes from familiarity. Over the years you would have watched countless movies with NYC in it and that is where the feeling comes from.

Holiday destinations are exactly the same. If you want to make people feel at home, and book their holiday over other destinations - engage and generate an emotional attachment before they ever arrive. Images and lifestyle videos do a good job but walking through the lobby of the resort your thinking of staying in or visiting the restaurant where your going to propose to your loved one, makes a connection that photos or video just can't deliver.

It's human nature to want to explore, having 3D tours on your website will not only engage clients further but also allow them to visit different rooms, familiarise them self with the property and entertainment areas, and experience the space at their own leisure (sound like your holiday already?). This generates all types emotional responses to your property and intern will generate additional business.

With a 3D Virtual, your guest will feel like they are already on holiday before they even arrive. Check out the 3D Tours below for a resort in Hawaii or the Spa at Galgorm.

Where will you holiday next?

airbnb to roll out 3D Virtual Tours

The immersive media technology company, which last year raised a hefty $30 million to further develop its 3D virtual tours, has already worked with a number of other companies in the hospitality industry to create 360 degree videos, including Princess Cruises, Viceroy Hotels, and Wyndham Vacation Rentals. The technology has been successful thus far in increasing customer confidence in rental locations and is becoming increasingly popular. And, as Oren J. Tversky, Matterport’s Vice President of Business Development, explains, the success of their technology within the real estate industry shows how easily the technology could be used on a larger scale, to capture even thousands of rental or apartment spaces.

The pilot, which was launched in July of 2016, was geared towards a number of popular and highly rated accommodation listings in the Sonoma, California area. What will set the selected Sonoma properties apart from Airbnb’s regular listings is an Instant Booking option, a 24 hour check-in, and even some local amenities from the host, which include such bonuses as complementary wine, luxury bath products, and a guidebook. Most excitingly, however, will be the introduction of virtual 3D models of the listed properties, which can be viewed through your browser or even through virtual reality devices like Google Cardboard and Oculus Rift.
